Screen printing onto technical ceramics for the aerospace industry

• The client required a machine capable of screen printing specialised ink at deposit depths ranging from 5 microns to 100 microns onto ceramic components.
• Mascoprint carried out extensive trials using different mesh grades and stencil build-ups to determine the best option for producing each depth of ink deposit and ensuring stability under a variety of production and end-use conditions.
• Specialised tooling was developed to hold the ceramic components whilst at the same time ensuring their fragility was protected during the printing process.
• The tooling was fitted to a Mascoprint CP12 and installed at the customer’s factory, where it is now producing a wide range of printed deposits onto specialised technical ceramic components.
